Leadership beyond Roles

Leadership is not defined by a title. It is defined by the choices we make, the responsibility we take, and the impact we create.

What does it mean to be a leader when “manager” is not part of your job title? How do we move beyond “it’s not my responsibility” and ask instead, “What can I do to make things better?” — while knowing when to step up, how to respect boundaries, and how to work with others?

As part of the More Than Tech series, this edition invites us to look at leadership from a different perspective: leadership as personal responsibility, initiative, courage, and consistency — regardless of our role or position.

Our guest, Valeriu Nicolae, will share insights and stories drawn from his experience in organizational environments, human rights advocacy, communication and leadership, as well as his work as the founder of Casa Bună. Through real-life examples, he will explore how we can take initiative, build trust and influence, and turn individual actions into meaningful change within our teams and communities.

Together, we will explore questions such as:

How can we lead without having formal authority?

When should we step up and take ownership?

How do we influence positive change without overstepping our role?

How can small, consistent actions build trust and create lasting impact?

What does it really mean to take responsibility for the environment we are part of?
